From a workshop on How to Start A Social-Jusice Oriented Small Businesses, for High School Students" I wish most business models reflected Elokin’s love and care for our children, elders and community. I reached out to Elokin because I wanted my 12th grade students to learn about local business owner’s products and services that benefit humanity. In short, many of my students never met an herbalist and understood the importance of using native plants as medicine. Elokin shared their experiences with owning a small business, working with elders in the herbalist community, and taught my students how to identify 3 native plants with healing powers. At the end of their workshop, Elokin also offered my students the opportunity to sign-up for the Magical Medicine Chest: a 6-week introduction to herbal medicine internship, for free!
